The "Partnership for Smart Cities of the Future" project, implemented under the Town Twinning Grant Scheme Between Turkey and the European Union, was concluded with a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the officials of Çanakkale and Tarragona on January 9, 2020.

With the Municipality of Çanakkale as the grant beneficiary, the project was carried out in partnership with the Municipality of Tarragona (Spain), the Tarragona Smart City Platform, and the Informatics Foundation of Turkey (TBV). The objectives of the project were as follows:

To enhance cooperation between the two municipalities within the framework of a smart city partnership;

To implement a Smart City Platform inspired by the Tarragona model;

To establish long-term collaboration aimed at further advancing the high-level smart city transformation of both cities by building networks and equipping them with the necessary skills;

To design joint projects within the scope of smart city transformation.
