Resilient Cities Roadshow thru “AID by Design in Between” Project was conducted in SAKARYA!
“Aid by Design” in between Natural Disasters Project workshopwas conducted in Sakarya on 7th of August, 2023 with the consortium of Sustainable Solutions from Netherlands, Artgineering from Belgium and Novusens Smart City Institute from Turkiye that run the project called “Cycling for a Better City” between 2018 and 2020 in Luleburgaz, 2021 in Kahramanmaras, Adana and Mersin (Project guide: https://bit.ly/3aT4yCv , Project videosu: https://bit.ly/3sR6Gry )
“Aid by Design” in between Natural Disasters Project aims to create awareness and impact on Urban Resilience, which cities are currently struggling with and to develop potential solutions for tackling with natural disasters (such as earthquakes, floods, wildfires, storms etc) and climate crisis to contribute cities to become more livable and sustainable with a high quality of life.
The initial phase of the project included investigating potential solutions (short, mid and longer-term) through cycling and public space design by conducting brainstorming and ideation workshops with the key stakeholders of the city , site visits (with bicycles) and also online meetings hosted by Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality.
Also, “Cycling for a Better City” project outcome that is “Inclusive Bicycle Masterplan-Design Guidebook” was distributed to the workshop participants for helping them to develop related solutions and project ideas.
The project consortium has been hosted by Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor to evaluate the results of the events and the further actions in the second phase of the project.
