The first “Climate Street” of Turkey will be in Bursa!
Bursa Metropolitan Municipality launched Turkey's first 'Climate Street’ in line with its strategies to become more resistant to climate changes in Bursa.
The purpose of the Bursa Climate Street Project is to support the adaptation to climate change by reducing carbon dioxide emission rates and increasing savings of energy and water. The project aims to determine a street or avenue that would host a series of technology enabled solutions in the fields of smart mobility, energy, water and infrastructure.
The Project started with close collaboration of Metropolitan Municipality of Bursa and Novusens Smart Cities Institute has been supported by organizations such as Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization, Bursa Technical University, Uludağ University, Bursa City Council, BEBKA-Bursa Eskişehir Bilecik Development Agency, Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chambers of Environmental Engineers and City Planners. The outputs of the project are aimed to be scaled to the whole city, thus supporting the economic and social development of Bursa in the medium and long term.
The first workshop of the "Climate Street Quick Win Project", which is an important step in Bursa’s smart city transformation journey was held on February 3, 2021 in the Metropolitan Municipality Council Hall.
Suggestions from all stakeholders regarding the location of the street where different quick win projects will be implements such as carbon emission measurements, solar energy use, smart meters, LED lighting systems, garbage collection / recycling, mobility and spatial planning have been compiled both individually and collectively.
Potential quick-win projects that can be implemented in the street will be addressed in the second workshop on February 15th, 2021.
